Vienna women runners-up for the first time – sport.ORF.at

Vienna finished the season in the Admiral Women’s Bundesliga as runners-up for the first time. The Viennese team slipped up on Sunday with a 1:1 draw at Blau-Weiß Linz/Union Kleinmünchen, but benefited from a 3:3 draw between SPG SCR Altach/FFC Vorderland and Wiener Austria.

As a result, Vienna remained second in the table with the same number of points due to the better direct comparison with the Vorarlberg team. SKN St. Pölten finished ten points ahead of them, unbeaten. Vienna will thus represent Austria, as will the serial champions, in the Champions League qualification.

The Viennese team has to take the difficult league route, while the Lower Austrians have a realistic chance of making it into the group phase of the premier class again via the championship route. They were presented with the championship trophy at the end of the 18th round after their 2-0 victory in the Lower Austrian duel with SV Neulengbach.

Relegated Wacker Innsbruck said goodbye to the top division with a 3-2 win against SPG FC Lustenau/FC Dornbirn Ladies. LASK will be new to the league in 2024/25.

Vienna striker Wasser player of the season

Vienna captain Claudia Wasser, who has to take a long break due to a cruciate ligament and meniscus tear, was voted player of the season. The 28-year-old striker, who scored twelve goals this season, won by a clear margin of 28 points. Maria Mikolajova (SKN St. Pölten) and Verena Volkmer (Austria Wien) tied for second place.
