Slovakia defeated France 4:2 (1:0, 2:1, 1:1) in Group B in Ostrava.

Pavols Regenda scored the only goal in the first period four seconds before the end of the period – 1:0 for Slovakia.

In the 23rd minute, Libor Hudáček played Pierre Eduars Belmars on the edge of the left side of the field with a manipulative move, approached the goal and sent the puck into the goal from the left throw circle – 2:0.

In the 30th minute, Hudáček scored his second goal of the game with a shot from the middle of the zone in the upper left corner of the goal – 3:0.

In the 36th minute, Saša Trejs from the left throw circle, without stopping the puck, sent it into the near corner of the goal, making it 1:3.

In the 49th minute, the Slovaks made it 4:1 after Mario Grman’s shot, but seven seconds before the end of the match, Florians Shakiashvili added 2:4 to the point game in a quick attack with a shot from the middle of the zone in the lower right corner.

Three (2+1) productivity points were collected by Hudáček, two (1+1) by Grmans, while Samuel Hlavaj saved 25 shots in the goal.

In Group B, Sweden has 15 in five matches and a place in the quarter-finals is secured. Germany has 12 points in six games, Slovakia – 11 points in five games, USA – ten, Latvia – seven, France – four and Kazakhstan – three points, while Poland has one point in six matches.

It has already been reported that in the first game on Saturday in Ostrava, Latvia lost 2:7 (0:2, 2:4, 0:1) to the Swedish national team, but Germany beat them 4:2 (0:0, 2:0, 2:2) Poland.

The 16 teams participating in the tournament are divided into two groups, with eight teams each, which guarantees seven games for each team. The top four teams in each group will continue the medal fight in the quarter-finals, while the weaker teams in both groups will leave the stronger division, and next year will be replaced by Hungary and Slovenia in the top 16.

Last year, the Canadians triumphed in the world championships, beating Germany in the decisive match, while Latvia won the bronze medals, defeating the USA national team in overtime.

The World Championship will take place in the Czech cities of Prague and Ostrava until May 26.
