Victor Wembanyama to Lead Spurs in Paris Olympic Showdown Against Pacers

PARIS (AP) — Victor Wembanyama will return to Paris and hopes it will be as an Olympic champion when his San Antonio Spurs face the Indiana Pacers in two NBA regular-season games next year.

The NBA announced Thursday that the teams will meet on Jan. 23 and 25, which will be the first pair of regular-season games to take place in Paris in the same season.

Wembanyama was the top pick in the 2023 draft, when the 7-foot-4 Frenchman joined the Spurs from Boulogne-Levallois.

The Spurs return to Paris for the first time since 2006 when another Frenchman, Tony Parker, was the team’s star.

The Pacers will play for the first time in France.

Wembanyama is expected to be one of the stars of the Paris Olympics and France hopes to win the gold medal for the first time after losing the Tokyo final to the United States.

The NBA played its third regular season game in Paris on January 11, when the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Brooklyn Nets 111-102.
