On the first day of Pan American Youth Archery Championship in San Salvador, Victor Esteban Portillo Lizardiarchery athlete originally from Queretaromade history by breaking the competition record in the under-18 compound category.

Portillo, only 16 years old, achieved an impressive total of seven hundred and six points in his category, thus consolidating his chances of obtaining a medal in individual and/or mixed participation, in addition to getting closer to securing his ticket for the Pan American.

When asked about his outstanding performance, Portillo declared:

“I am excited to have achieved this record, but I know there is still a lot of work to do. My goal is to continue improving and represent Mexico at the highest levels of international competition.”

Along with his 16 teammates, Portillo will compete against 218 athletes from countries such as United States, El Salvador, Guatemala and Colombia in eight different categories, both in women’s and men’s categories, such as: sub-21 recurve, sub-21 compound, sub-18 recurve and sub-18 compound.
