Victim of leaving the road, an Ile-de-France rally driver dies during a race in Aisne

A tragic event marked this Sunday the third edition of the Boucles capelloises rally in the north of Aisne, near the town of Erloy. While he was in second position, Stan Schwab experienced, according to the Hauts-de-France Motorsport League, a trip off the road: “The car left the road when it hit a bump, and finished its course on the side of the road. The accident took place at 2:43 p.m. in the territory of the commune of Erloy, between La Capelle and Vervins. The race was immediately interrupted. » As specified by France Blueemergency services intervened quickly, but the 37-year-old pilot could not be resuscitated.

Stan Schwab is described by the regional league as being “an experienced and discreet driver, who has participated in around fifty car rallies, including several rounds of the French Championship since 2017.” The deceased was a restaurateur in the Paris region, and lived in Levallois -Perret (Hauts-de-Seine). According to La Thiérachethe co-pilot was not injured, but was evacuated to hospital for examinations.

Eager to secure first place, Stan Schwab found himself just over six seconds behind the race leader. Before the start of the rally, the driver hesitated between securing the place of runner-up, or trying to take the place of leader. The Boucles capelloises rally will not resume.
