VfB Stuttgart Completes Signing of Young Talent Justin Diehl

VfB Stuttgart has completed the long-awaited signing of Justin Diehl. As the Bundesliga runner-up announced on Wednesday, the 19-year-old offensive player is coming from relegated 1. FC Köln on a free transfer in the summer and has signed a contract until 2029.

At FC, he has been in the first team squad since the start of the second half of the season and has since made seven Bundesliga appearances.

The German U-20 international, who has been through all of FC’s youth teams since 2011, is “one of the most exciting players in Germany in his position,” said VfB sports director Fabian Wohlgemuth: “He took his first steps in the Bundesliga last season made, at VfB we want to further expand and promote his skills.”

Diehl had already announced early on that he did not want to extend his contract in Cologne. In the first half of the season, former coach Steffen Baumgart therefore did not use the youngster, even though he had recommended himself for higher tasks with good performances in the regional league (twelve goals and nine assists). Baumgart’s successor Timo Schultz then gave Diehl his first Bundesliga appearances.
