Valladolid returns to First Division in a heart-stopping finale against Villarreal B

Real Valladolid achieved its objective, returning to First Division, in a heart-stopping end to the game, in which the Valladolid team scored the last two goals in added time, with Sylla as the protagonist, with a goal, from a penalty, that gave the victory for his team and, with it, direct promotion.

The white and purple team came out with a novelty, well received by the fans, that of Sylla at the point of attack, and that of Anuar, as left winger, leaving Raúl Moro on the right. A team of guarantees to face a decisive shock.

The Castellón players only made one change compared to the previous day, with Lekovic replacing Gelardo in the center of defense. And they made it clear, from the beginning, that they had not come to Zorrilla to be stone guests.

The Valladolid team found themselves with a well-established rival and it was not until the 27th minute that they could see the first shot on goal, from a free kick, which was stopped by the visiting goalkeeper, without too much difficulty.

The stands were singing a goal from Sylla, in the 30th minute, after a free kick by Monchu, who headed into the back of the net. But he had done it offside, so it was disallowed, although at least it helped the public wake up.

The Yellow Submarine subsidiary applied the guidelines well, slowing down the mobility of Real Valladolid’s overflowing players, such as Moro, which prevented fluidity in the circulation of the ball, and also did not give up their attacking options.

In fact, the first shot on goal by the visiting team, from Ontiveros, also arrived, forcing Masip to intervene. And with that “nadism” and the same initial score, the players went to the locker room.

The intense marking of Miguel Álvarez’s team stopped any attempt by the locals to reach the opponent’s area and look for scoring options. The 24,765 spectators – the best attendance of the course – were beginning to get impatient and ask for more dedication from their team.

It couldn’t have been anyone else. Moro opened the scoring, with a perfect finish, after cutting back, feinting and shooting directly at goal, surprising Iker Álvarez, after a play started, on the right wing, by the recently incorporated Iván Sánchez.

With that advantage, Real Valladolid chose to save the clothes. And when you play to speculate, what happens is that, in one of Villarreal’s few arrivals, Lekovic managed to finish, given the passivity of the local defense.

The local nonsense did not stop there. Villarreal B took advantage of another lack of attention from the Blanquivioleta defense, which stood watching, waiting for a foul to be called in its favor that did not come, and Lekovic beat Masip and turned the result around.

The “Pezzolano resignation” returned, but not everything was said. In extra time Meseguer balanced the match again with a header. Real Valladolid went all out in the final stages, knowing that Éibar was losing at Sporting de Gijón.

Iván Sánchez finished off a post and in the next play the referee awarded a penalty, for handball. Sylla scored from eleven meters and gave promotion to a team that brought out its best weapons in the final moments, against a rival that did not give up and was able to tie again with a shot from Pascual that repelled a post.
