On Saturday, at home, the Alençonnaises remained neck and neck with the Monaco Basket Association during a tense first period. The Monegasques took a lead at the start of the match (2–4), before being caught by the USBD, while securing the tie in the 18th minute.
The Ornaises nevertheless managed to gain a good lead (26–16), just before half-time, in stifling heat. “I think of the girls, because I already think that we can wring out my t-shirt“, quipped a supporter at half-time.

At the restart, the USBD came back in force and took off, Ashunae Durant widening the gap (44-28). Alençon then dominated the match until the final whistle.
With 700 supporters, the Louvrier gymnasium in Alençon was full and bustling as rarely. “I am more than proud of my players, I am not surprised, but above all it is a great human adventure“, commented Fayssal Rhennam, the Alençon coach, after the explosion of joy following the victory.

After the final of the Coupe de France Trophy and the play-offs, USBD Alençon led its third match in a row against Monaco. The Alençonnaises have emerged as winners three times. “It’s complicated, each time, to find the keys, because Monaco is a very good team, but we did it (…), it’s excellent, we did the job“, rejoiced Cassandra Vêtu, the Ornais captain.
Even if their place in Ligue 2 is now assured, the USBD players will still have to face Villeurbanne on Saturday May 18.
