Update: Pistons President Search Nearing Resolution, Tim Connelly a Possible Candidate

After years of waiting, we could know the name of the new president of the Pistons in the coming weeks. Selon The Athleticthe Michigan franchise spoke with promising candidates to fill the position, vacant since 2018.

If things still do not settle down, it would be because of their interest in the boss of the Wolves, Tim Connelly, whose team is still in competition, facing the Nuggets in the playoffs. According to the American media, whether or not the manager stays in Minnesota, he would be likely not to activate the last year of his contract.

We recall that the latter, seduced by the (aborted) takeover project of the tandem Alex Rodriguez and Marc Lore, has an exit clause from his lease at the end of the season. If it is likely that he will continue the current project with the Wolves, his positioning could evolve if the owner of the Pistons, Tom Gores, proves convincing on the financial level.

A bit like the case of Monty Williams, recruited a year ago at a high price. Not authorized to interview Jon Horst of the Bucks, the Pistons would still have other candidates in mind: Trajan Langdon (Pelicans), Dennis Lindsey (Mavs) and Marc Eversley (Bulls), among others.

The first carved out a good reputation by becoming GM of the Pelicans, where the second currently plays an advisory role with the Texans, after having been a manager for almost 10 years at the Jazz. The third is currently GM of the Bulls and was already targeted by the Pistons, in 2020, before they hired their GM Troy Weaver.
