University Sports Commission Announces Archery, Chess, and Field Tennis Tournaments for 2024 Olympics in Santo Domingo

SANTO DOMINGO. The University Sports Directorate and the National University Sports Commission announced the archery, chess and field tennis tournaments for June, as part of the 2024 Olympics, where they compete for the Miderec Cup.

Archery will be on June 2 in the Parque del Este; 8 and 9, chess, with the ISA University in Santiago as its headquarters, and 15 and 16, tennis, on the courts of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center, all starting at 9:00 in the morning, every day.

This was announced by Roque García, president of the National Commission for University Sports (CNDU) and director of University Sports at Miderec, who invited those in charge of sports at the centers to comply with the provisions of the registration regulations.

They will be the fourth, fifth and sixth events of the contest where students/athletes from the high schools of the Dominican Republic participate. Beach volleyball, 3×3 basketball and swimming, for men and women, have already finished.

García indicated that the University Games are organized, with the support of the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Mr. Francisco Camacho, whom he thanked for his support.

José Arias, technical director of CNDU indicated that, as in the other disciplines, each participant is required to complete their registration form with a 2×2 photo, a copy of the ID card and subject selection sheet, signed and sealed by the Registration department of the study center.

He asked the requirements to be met within the time limit to complete each registration, for which he urged the sports directors of the national universities to manage each file in good time.

Both García and Arias indicated that each national federation will be in charge of coordinating the assembly in their respective disciplines and that the rules of each one will be played.

Points will be added for study centers that occupy places up to eighth position, “as a way to stimulate greater participation, where the objective is not to lift the champion’s cup, but to promote fraternity between future professionals, men and women who “They are called to be the main ones in the Dominican labor sector,” both leaders noted.
