Bjorn Meijer suffered a right knee injury on the field of Antwerp (1-2) on Sunday afternoon and must undergo a medical procedure. The Dutch left back will be out of action for several months, Club Brugge announced on Monday.

“Bjorn Meijer was injured yesterday afternoon in the match against Royal Antwerp FC. A scan Monday morning revealed an injury to the right knee. Bjorn will undergo a medical procedure and will be unavailable for several months. We wish Bjorn a speedy recovery!”, said a short message.

Meijer dropped out at the Bosuil shortly before the break. Kyriani Sabbe replaced him.

Due to the injury, the 21-year-old Dutchman will miss the last three games in the Champions’ Play-off, in which Club has been in the lead since this weekend, and the second leg against Fiorentina in the semi-finals of the Conference League (plus of course a possible final on May 29).

With Maxim De Cuyper, Club coach Nicky Hayen has an alternative at left back.
