UEFA expects revenue of 2.4 billion euros

The European Football Association (UEFA) expects revenue of 2.4 billion euros from the 2024 European Championship in Germany, according to a budget report. In return, UEFA says it will pay taxes in Germany worth an estimated 65 million euros.

The ten host cities will incur costs in the double-digit million range; Munich, for example, puts the costs at 21 million euros. In addition, the federal states bear the costs for the state police, the amount of which is unknown. In return, the cities can advertise themselves due to the high number of visitors.

Retailers in Germany are also expecting additional income. According to Holger Eichele, general manager of the German Brewers’ Association, around five percent more beer was sold before and during the tournament in the 2006 World Cup year than in other summer weeks.
