Two leading competitors hit by a sports director’s car during the French U19 Championships

It was a spectacular accident but fortunately not serious which happened on Sunday during the French U19 Championships in Altkirch: Amandine Muller (Grand Est) and Célia Gery (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes) were at the front of the race when they fell because of the car of the sports director of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. The driver was chatting with his team’s rider when his vehicle hit Amandine Muller.

She found herself violently on the ground and dragged Célia Gery into her fall, who hit her back. The two runners were able to restart and competed for the title: Célia Gery finally left Amandine Muller behind and won the race alone. “We got ahead and went quickly on the climbs,” the latter explained to France 3 Alsace, with tears in her eyes. I tried to hold on to the end of the last lap, but it was quite complicated. »
