Judo Valpolicella, new satisfactions from last week’s competitions. At the Solagna sports hall (Vicenza), Luca Furlani ranked second in the race valid for the qualifications for the finals of the Italian championships scheduled in Perugia on Saturday 11 May. He was only beaten by Filippo Bergamin of Judo Murano in the -81Kg category. The first edition of the Valbrenta trophy also took place at the Solagna arena: 400 athletes from northern and central Italy competed. Alfredo De Luca in the Cadets (Under 18) won the -66Kg category. In the Seniors (Under 35) Bakari Ukleba achieved success in the -Kg100 category, imitated by Luca Furlani in the -Kg81 category: the latter, in the final, beat Nicola Lazzari of Judo Treviso, already Italian vice-champion. «Our boys» explains maestro Pietro De Luca with 7th Dan «deserved their successes. De Luca won the final, landing an Ippon Seoi Nage. Furlani, in addition to the national qualification, won the trophy with an amazing Ippon by Ura Nage.” The maestro hopes: «We are observing the fruits of hard weekly training. Now we are aiming for the final of the Italian championship in Perugia with Furlani.”
