From Sunday to Friday, national coach Julian Nagelsmann will prepare his squad for the European Football Championship in a first training camp. However, many players are still missing.

The national coach will welcome the national football players on Sunday (May 26, 2024) in a luxury accommodation on the outskirts of Blankenhain in Thuringia. Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and his colleagues are expected in the afternoon and early evening.

Until Friday, Nagelsmann will be preparing his squad south of Weimar for the tournament from June 14 to July 14. A training pitch was specially built on the site. After five days, the team will move to the European Championship quarters in Herzogenaurach.

In Blankenhain, the national coach will initially have to do without the three cup finalists Florian Wirtz, Jonathan Tah and Robert Andrich from Bayer Leverkusen; they will arrive later, as will captain Ilkay Gündogan and Marc-André ter Stegen, who will play for FC Barcelona on Sunday.

Toni Kroos and Antonio Rüdiger from Real Madrid and the two Dortmund players Niclas Füllkrug and Nico Schlotterbeck, who will face each other in the Champions League final on June 1st, will not be coming to Thuringia at all.

The first training session will take place on Monday. Germany will open the European Championship on June 14 in Munich against Scotland.
