Ticket Hunters Disappointed as Hockey Fans Pack Ostrava Arena

This year was no exception. Even long before the tournament, when the relatively expensive tickets for the game Latvia-Poland (1st category ticket price around 85 euros) were practically sold out at the official point of sale, there were discussions in fan forums in the depths of the Internet that it would be possible to get tickets for almost free right there by the arena – that’s how it is every year. And why pay the official price when you can buy so much beer for the money you save.

These cheap ticket hunters did not take into account several factors – the relatively small capacity of the Ostrava Arena and the fact that Poland is right next door. In addition, the Czechs themselves do not hesitate to see good hockey, especially in a city that is, to put it mildly, boring, and a sports tournament of this level is a very good entertainment opportunity for the locals.

Putting all these facts together, it was clear that no one would throw tickets after the arena. On Saturday, some German hockey fans sold their excess tickets for 45 euros, but this time there were no large groups, in which underground ticket sellers are also involved, at the arena.

When the game started, many fans, and not only Latvians, but also Poles, had to watch the intense game right there in the fan zone on the big screens, because there were actually no tickets or free seats in the arena. It’s true, according to LSM.lv’s observations, the number of fans who stayed outside was not more than a few hundred, but there were also many who gave up hope of getting into the arena and went to look for nicer sports bars in the city center.

The Latvian hockey team will play at least six more games in Ostrava. At the moment, tickets for many matches of the Latvian national team, for example against Slovakia and Sweden, are practically not left in the official market.

CONTEXT:

In the continuation of the group stage, Latvian hockey players will have to play against France in Ostrava on Sunday, as well as later against Kazakhstan (May 14), Germany (May 15), Sweden (May 18), Slovakia (May 19) and the USA national team (May 21). ). The four strongest teams in the group will advance to the quarterfinals.

All world championship matches can be seen live on LSM.lv.
