Olympiacos point guard Thomas Walkup was chosen this Saturday as ‘best defender’ of the 2023-24 Euroleague season, his first award for an entire year, according to the votes of the coaches.
Walkup led the Greek defense to be the team that has conceded the fewest points per game this season (74.4), a key record for Olympiacos to reach its third consecutive presence in the ‘Final Four’.
The point guard from Piraeus, in his sixth season in the Euroleague, has 60 steals, more than anyone else, waiting for what he can do in the semifinal against Real Madrid. Whites center Walter Tavares was second in the voting for a ‘best defender’ award that he had won in 2019, 2021 and 2023.
