The women’s Reyer Venezia beats Campobasso in race 1

At Taliercio, in front of 2,871 spectators, a season record, Andrea Mazzon’s Reyer Venezia won game 1 of the championship semi-final against Molisana Magnolia Campobasso. A balanced game for 18 minutes then the Orogranata produced maximum effort, closing 12 points ahead at half-time and maintaining the advantage until the end. The foreign players of Umana are the great protagonists of the success of game 1, in fact Kuier finishes with 22 points and 4 triples on target, Berkani adds 17 with 6 assists and Shepard 17 and as many rebounds. Kunaiyi’s 15 points and Trimboli’s 14 were not enough for the visiting team. We return to the field on Wednesday 8th at the PalaSelvapiana in Campobasso for game 2. In the other game 1 of the lower part of the scoreboard Schio beat Ragusa 76-51 at home.

FIRST QUARTER (19-15)

Kuier opens the match with a 7-meter bomb; balanced match, 5-5 at 3′. Reyer extends to 9-5. The guests extend their lead to 9-11 thanks to a 6-0 run: it is Molisana’s first advantage. Venezia is tied at 11 for over 2′ of play, but Kuier unlocks the orogranata. Dedic unleashed gives the 13-15, but Pan scores two bombs in a row for the 19-15 which ends the first period.

SECOND QUARTER (40-28)

Campobasso puts a lot of energy on the pitch and Dedic closes the lead to 20-18. Halfway through the second quarter there is still great balance, 24-24. For Venezia there are 1 points from Kuier, 9 from Shepard and 7 from Berkani, while Campobasso has 10 points from Kunaiyi and 8 from Nina Dedic. Venice keeps control of the operations. 45-35 in the 24th minute with Shepard clearing the boards (12 of which 5 offensive). Campobasso never dies led by Kunaiyi, 47-42 in the 26th minute. For Campobasso the last to give up is captain Trimboli, while Reyer plays with the clock and manages the clear gap as best as possible, or rather it stretch for the 82-63 finale.
