How did she come to this? Mama Wagner revealed this on US television on the news channel “Spectrum News”. She says: “My motivation was that I wanted to know what actually happened to us. So many people – especially in the US – have asked my husband and I over and over again: how did you do it, how did your kids grow up and what’s the story behind you?”

Beate Wagner admits: “Of course we tried our best as parents, but I never really knew the right answer. And so I thought to myself: There must be an answer and started researching because I wanted to know for myself.”

To be closer to her sons, the Berliner moved to Orlando last year and lives in a small apartment there. There she found time and peace to finalize the book.
Her advice to parents whose children want to pursue a professional career in sports: “What was important to us: We always stayed relaxed and never put any pressure on them. The NBA was never our goal, it was always about fun. So the boys could decide every day whether they wanted to go again. It was never a duty. The boys decided their own path.”
