Coach Patrick Fischer’s selection leads the incomplete table of Group A by two points ahead of the Czech Republic. On the contrary, the British also lost their third match at the championship and remained last. The island team is still waiting for the premiere point.
Striker Norris, whose mother is Czech, played in the British team for the first time at the championship. In front of 15,239 spectators in the O2 arena, the Swiss decided on the triumph already in the first period. Another striker with Czech roots, Fiala, did not convert a free kick after 93 seconds of the game and thus did not follow up on the successful raid from Monday’s duel with the Czech Republic, but after less than four minutes, the favorite of the match struck after the cooperation of a trio of players from the NHL.
Captain Josi hit the crossbar from an angle after Fialo’s pass, but Hischier already got the rebound into the net. He scored the sixth point in the tournament, he shone especially in Sunday’s match against Austria, in which he secured a 6:5 triumph with four points (3+1).
In the seventh minute, Lake almost equalized after a run, but narrowly missed the goal. Instead, the Helvetian cross country made it 2-0 in the 14th minute after British goalkeeper Whistle parried Kukan’s shot.
In the middle of the match, the Swiss Senteler hit the post from a break-in. At the end of the second period, Fischer’s side struck again, this time on the power play, as Niederreiter shot past the British goalkeeper. Fiala and Josi scored the assists again.
The last 20 minutes was just finishing and the score did not change. The Swiss also defeated the British in the second match at the WC, beating them 6:3 three years ago in Riga.
