A few more hours……then the 24-hour camp in Svendborg is over.
The two old clubs (SBK 1934 and VBK 1937) met in April 2023 in the Old, relegation-threatened Hal in Vordingborg for the first 24-hour camp with accommodation in the front hall.
This weekend we repeated it in Svendborg Badminton Klub’s new hall on Dronningemaen in this beautiful and idyllic town on Sydfyn.
Last weekend the sub-elite gathered here for the Grand Prix.
I once came sailing here…..in the late 80s maybe…..in a 20-foot boat without an engine and found shelter here after sailing from Skælskør in a fierce storm. Now I got a few hours in the city on Saturday afternoon with my girlfriend in hand in the most beautiful weather.
Jonas Nielsen from SBK has had good control over the approx. 30 young people aged 5-15. I had a couple of assistant coaches with me, but one drove home with his mother on Saturday night. He came directly from a 24-hour relay race at the post-secondary school in Brøndby and was completely exhausted after about 55 km in his legs. Fair enough🏆
But the rest persevered, including the few who had never tried sleeping in a hall before, and without parents. It worked…..and it usually does! NUZO🙏🏻💥

On Saturday, the light in the hall, where everyone slept (except me…..took the changing room) was turned off at 10 pm and it was completely quiet at about 10.30 pm. This morning the first ones were ready…quite ready!….for activity at 06.15!
Before breakfast, the group went up the hill behind the hall and enjoyed the view while we adults got ready for breakfast. That’s why we are here…..as a service organization, while the young people are just enjoying themselves……playing cross-country badminton, playing games, playing football, throwing frisbees and everything else.
It is energy-giving (and demanding). To everyone! And that’s how the division of labor is!
