The Spanish women’s compound bow team wins silver at the European Championship

The Spanish women’s compound bow team has been proclaimed continental runner-up this Saturday in the European Archery Championship, which is being held in the German town of Essen, after losing in the final to Turkey (218-234).

In the fight for the gold medal, the team formed by Andrea Muñoz, Alexa Misis and Paula Díaz performed well in what marked the first European final for the Spanish women’s team in the modality, but was stopped by the success the Ottoman team, made up of Ayse Bera Suzer, Hazal Burun and Begum Yuva.

The Spanish defeated Italy in the quarterfinals and Great Britain in the semifinals, completing a fantastic contest in which they established a new Spanish record with 231 points in 50-meter heats (24 arrows).

This Sunday, Elia Canales will fight for the gold medal in the recurve bow modality. The Catalan, runner-up at the individual level last summer at the European Games in Krakow (Poland), where she won gold in the mixed team with Miguel Alvariño, reached the final after defeating one of the favorites, the Italian Tatiana, in the semifinals.
