The Slovaks made an impression with a win over Kazakhstan. The Finns swept the British

Slovaks won for the first time in the second match at the World Cup when they defeated Kazakhstan 6:2. The first triumph was also claimed by Finland, which crushed Great Britain 8-0.

The Slovak blow came soon

The Slovaks gained a key lead already in the first period, in which they scored three times. Martin Pospíšil scored two goals, Libor Hudáček scored three points for a goal and two assists.

The Canadian coach of the Slovak national team, Ramsay, made the only change in the lineup after Friday’s defeat, he included another compatriot from the Czech extra league, Faško-Rudáš, instead of Daň in the fourth attack.

The Slovaks were more active from the start and pressed into attack. They broke through in the 13th minute on the first power play. The German’s shot arrived behind goalkeeper Šutov Pospíšil.

In the continued pressure, the Slovak players quickly struck for the second time. Only 34 seconds later, Faško-Rudáš got through with a hard blow. The Liberec attacker hit the camera in the goal, from which the puck bounced back into the game and Grman beat Šutov from the goal post. After checking the video, the referee recognized the first situation as a goal.

Grman was close to another goal in the 16th minute, but he did not beat Šutov. Sukeľ crowned a successful first period for the Slovaks after a quick counterattack and a two-on-one outnumbering.

In the second part, the Kazakhs leveled the game and managed to reduce the signaled numerical advantage thanks to Asetov. An active Sukeľ could calm down the Slovaks, but he did not register among the scorers for the second time.

Šutov acrobatically blocked his shot with his hockey stick and scored the save of the match. Škorvánek, who was checked by Bojko and Omirbekov, also had to demonstrate his readiness.

In the 29th minute, Kelemen’s break was stopped only at the cost of a foul by Beketajev, the Slovaks got the advantage of a free kick, which Hudáček surely converted.

The Kazakhs could dramatize the duel in power plays, but they did not add the second goal. Slovakia thus brought the match to a victorious end without any problems.

At the beginning of the third period, Hudáček performed in the role of scorer, who first set up a goal for Pospíšil and then for Cingelo. After conceding the sixth goal, Šutov left the place in the goal to Bojarkin.

Omirbekov beat Škorvánek in the 52nd minute, but Kazakhstan failed to repeat last year’s win over Slovakia at the World Cup.

The Finns opened a shooting range

After the initial defeat 0:1 in the raids against the Czech hockey players, the Finns scored their first win in the tournament. The British, who returned after a one-year hiatus among the elite, are still waiting for a point gain.

In front of 15,433 spectators, Oliver Kapanen shone with a hat trick, Mikael Granlund, another striker of the Northerners, recorded four assists. Emil Larmi kept the scoreless.

As expected, the favored Finns had the upper hand from the start, but goalkeeper Bowns held out almost the entire first period unscathed.

But then, in the 17th minute, Kapanen came through thanks to a successful run and ended his team’s wait for a goal, which had stretched to 81 minutes and 14 seconds since the start of the tournament.

The British, who managed to score twice in the last game against Canada, looked in vain for Larmi’s recipe.

The northerners decided with a crushing second period, during which they scored five goals. Just 75 seconds after returning to the ice, Puljujärvi also gained ground thanks to the flow.

In the 25th minute, the Finns took advantage of the power play, after Innal fired from the circle without preparation. Riikola Kapanen and Määttä increased the difference in the score even before the second break.

In the third act, the Suomi team sent twenty accurate shots at Bowns. Two ended up behind him. Lehtonen scored perfectly with the help of the stick, and Kapanen completed the hat trick in the 53rd minute. In the end, 14 saves were enough for Larmi to keep a clean sheet.
