The Offensive Drought System Strikes Again: Astros vs Atheltics Prediction May 16th

The major league baseball system “The Offensive Drought” once again made us money, as the Astros beat the Athletics by a score of 3 to 0 last night. I expected Framber Valdez to get back into winning ways and he delivered, shutting out Oakland for seven innings while allowing just two hits. This means that the “Offensive Drought” strategy is now 10-3 this season and has a 14.4% ROI.

The smartest bettors among you will no doubt be able to guess my favorite of the day for May 16. Yes, I once again choose Houston to defeat Oakland, because the team is still relevant from the “Offensive drought” betting angle!

I will not recall the rules of this system for the second day in a row, so if you missed yesterday’s article, I invite you to consult it for more details on this very lucrative betting strategy.

Oakland surprised many baseball fans by starting the season with a 17-17 record, which was much better than expected. However, they have been in free fall since May 5, as evidenced by their 2-9 record. They had to deal with several injuries on the mound, which clearly didn’t help their cause.

The Astros are heading in the opposite direction. Their 12-24 record to start the campaign was a huge disappointment. But the good news is that they have won six of their last seven meetings.

Joey Estes will start the game for the A’s. He did a very good job in his only big league start in 2024, allowing just one run in five innings of work in Seattle.

Home runs seem to be a problem for Estes. The only run he conceded to the Mariners was the result of a long ball. Last year, he allowed four home runs in just 10 innings in the majors. I expect the 22 year old pitcher to give up several runs at Minute Maid Park tonight.

I have to admit I’m a little worried about Cristian Javier. He started the season with four solid outings, his 1.54 ERA showing that. Then, a neck injury forced him to miss about a month of action.

When he returned, he didn’t look convincing at all. The Tigers manhandled him with seven runs in just one and a third innings. His final two fastballs of the day showed well below average velocity. To top it all off, he took 21 catches and 29 balls, which is awful.

Has Javier really recovered from his injury? For me, that’s the big question mark, but I’m going to rely on the “Offensive Scarcity” system to bring us a little more money in the bank! Javier only totaled 50 pitches during his last start. He should therefore be well rested.
