the last chance project

The project has been slipping for ten years. In 2014, the director of the Montpellier Hérault Sport Club (MHSC), Louis Nicollin (nicknamed Loulou), dreamed of building a new facility in Lunel to replace the old Mosson stadium, which was prone to flooding.

Then mayor and president of the metropolis, Philippe Saurel (DVG) first imagined the stadium near the Mas de Saporta, in Lattes. Before taking it to several sites in the new Cambacérès or Odysseum district.

Making Saurel projects a clean slate, his successor, Michaël Delafosse (PS), assured that the financing would be 100% private, and moved the project to Pérols, on the Ode à la mer site. More recently, he studied a second option on the Grammont estate.
