The Future of Koen Casteels: Red Devils Goalkeeper Set to Change Clubs Before Euro 2024

The number 1 of the Red Devils in the absence of Thibaut Courtois will change clubs this summer. Koen Casteels will leave Wolfsburg, and his decision should be communicated before Euro 2024.

Koen Casteels (31 years old) has played 275 matches for Wolfsburg since his arrival in 2015 and was even voted best goalkeeper in Germany in 2018. But after 9 years with the Wolves, the Red Devil is reaching the end of his contract and will therefore try his luck elsewhere .

Casteels can count on a lot of interest, and should leave Germany where he has been playing since 2011. In Belgium, we know that RSC Anderlecht is on board, and hopes to make him the successor to Kasper Schmeichel who should not stay at club.

It remains to be seen if, financially, Anderlecht can meet Koen Casteels’ demands… but also if the latter wishes to return to Belgium, and nothing is less certain. As a reminder, Casteels was trained at Racing Genk but did not play a single match there, leaving for Hoffenheim in 2011.

The Newspaper reveals in any case that Koen Casteels would like to resolve the issue before Euro 2024, i.e. in the coming weeks. The Red Devil is currently on leave, but would like to be settled and moved in before the Euro, which is played in three weeks.

A “timeline” which seems to leave little chance for Sporting Anderlecht, whose transfer window is expected to start a little later, except perhaps in terms of departures.
