Swiss Men’s 3×3 Basketball Team Falls Short of Olympic Qualification Dreams

Two days after an opening punctuated by a defeat against Lithuania (18-21) and a success against Germany (19-18), the Swiss men’s 3×3 team did not manage to get their ticket to the quarter-finals of the Olympic qualifying tournament in Debrecen.

Jonathan Dubas, Natan Jurkovitz, Marco Lehmann and Gilles Martin – returning to the game, he was ill on Thursday – conceded defeat against Magadascar (16-21).

Undecided until mid-match, the match gradually slipped away from the Helvetians who were particularly messy with long-range shots (1/10) and free throws (1/4). The dream of seeing basketball Switzerland being present at the 2024 Olympics has thus been definitively shattered.

Beaten by Magadascar, the Swiss finished last in their group, Germany having defeated Lithuania 18-16.
