SV Aichelberg Baseball Department Celebrates 20th Anniversary with Fun-Filled Weekend

Last Pentecost weekend, the SV Aichelberg baseball department celebrated its 20th anniversary with a big anniversary party. The celebration took place with active and former active players.

Since its founding in 2004, the department has developed into an important part of the club and celebrated numerous successes. Special successes since 2004 have been the youth team’s state league championships (2007, 2009, 2010, 2017) and the championships, as well as the promotion of the first team to the state league (2016 & 2022).

There was a lot on offer on the anniversary weekend. The highlight was the game between the current youth team and their parents on Saturday afternoon. The young players showed their skills and won the game by a clear margin. Despite the heavy defeat, the parents clearly had fun and the game brought a lot of laughter and a good mood for everyone involved.

On Sunday there was a home run derby, which was held in tournament format and was open to everyone. Participants of all ages tried to hit the ball as far as possible.
This was followed by another exciting game in which the current Aichelberg Indians softball team played against a team of former players, the “Oldie Goldies”. The match lasted 9 innings and was extremely evenly matched until the end. In the end, the “Oldies” narrowly prevailed and won the game in the last inning with 24 to 23. The game offered great entertainment and showed the high level of play and team spirit within the club.

Of course, honors to Udo Ruoff, the chief and early Indian, could not be missing from the anniversary weekend. Particularly highlighted were Martin Fernandez and Manuel Stutz, who were inducted into the Aichelberg Indians Hall of Fame. Along with Udo Ruoff, they are now the only three who have received this special award. Martin Fernandez and Manuel Stutz have also been with the club since the very beginning and co-founded it. With a lot of passion and commitment, they have significantly shaped the career of baseball in Aichelberg.

Monica Fernandez was also recognized for her many years of work as sales manager and received a lot of recognition for her tireless efforts since 2004. The department management is very proud of the many dedicated helpers.

On both evenings there was a barbecue, conversation and reminiscing. Many former players did not miss this and came back to Aichelberg for the anniversary celebration. DJ Danny provided good music in the evening, creating the right atmosphere with his beats.

The anniversary weekend was a complete success and impressively showed how lively and committed the SV Aichelberg baseball department is. Those responsible are optimistic about the future and look forward to many more successful years.

A big thank you goes to all the helpers and participants who contributed to the success of the festival. The anniversary will certainly remain in the memories of members and visitors for a long time to come and will serve as an incentive for future projects and challenges.
