Stuttgart, Leipzig and BVB reach the Champions League

The Bundesliga gets a fifth starting place in the Champions League. VfB Stuttgart, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund are therefore certainly in the premier class.

Serie A from Italy and the Bundesliga will receive an additional place in the Champions League for the 2024/25 season. In a UEFA season ranking, the clubs from Italy and Germany occupy the top two places with their combined results from the European Cup season and are no longer catchable by the competition from England and France. This means that Germany basically has eight starting places in the European Cup.

The consequences in the Bundesliga:

The VfB Stuttgart and RB Leipzig are certainly qualified for the 2024/25 Champions League.
Borussia Dortmund The Champions League is also guaranteed, as BVB will remain at least fifth and the Bundesliga now has five starting places.
Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich were already definitely qualified.
The places in the Europa League and the Conference League are moving through the bonus place you move down one rank.
Even a sixth place in the Champions League is now possible for the Bundesliga. The prerequisite would be that Borussia Dortmund wins the Champions League, thus being able to take part in 2024/25 as defending champions and at the same time finishing fifth in the Bundesliga. In this case, the sixth-place team in the Bundesliga would play in the Champions League. Season rankings start again in 2024/25

The additional space is only distributed for one season. At the start of the 2024/25 season the rating is back to zero.

Background: Due to the reform of the Champions League from the 2024/25 season, the number of participating clubs will increase from 32 to 36. Of the four additional places, two places will be allocated via the new ranking list from the coming season. The two places are allocated every year and are distributed independently of UEFA’s five-year ranking. As before, this applies to the usual places.
