A season to forget! This season has been anything but smooth for Sébastien Haller. His year was marked by highs and numerous lows – accompanied by the constant hope of an explosion in performance. BVB has been patient so far, but according to SPORT1 information, the signs point to a departure in the summer.

Two years ago, the Ivorian moved to Dortmund. At the time, BVB transferred 31 million euros to Ajax Amsterdam and gave Haller a lucrative contract. The 29-year-old earns around eight million euros per year. The plan at the time: Haller was to be the successor to the recently departed Erling Haaland. But he was not even close to filling those shoes.
He was unable to repeat his successful Bundesliga time with Frankfurt (33 goals in 77 games) and his impressive record with Ajax Amsterdam (a goal every 83 minutes).

Sébastien Haller will probably leave BVB
In the recently concluded Bundesliga season, he made a measly 13 appearances (zero goals). He only managed to get on the scoresheet in the cup (two) and in the Champions League (important goal in the quarter-final first leg against Atlético Madrid). Haller is disappointed – also because his body keeps getting in the way.
Haller’s only highlight: winning the Africa Cup
Due to his ankle injury, Haller missed a total of 18 games for BVB and the national team. And yet he traveled to the Africa Cup of Nations and made history at the beginning of the year. When the Ivory Coast triumphed in the final, the striker became a hero to an entire nation. Back in Dortmund, his injury, which he never recovered from, forced him to take another break.
Borussia Dortmund is already looking for reinforcements. Main transfer target: Serhou Guirassy from VfB Stuttgart. BVB is in pole position in the poker game for the much sought-after striker. And even if it doesn’t end up being Guirassy, an attacker is definitely going to come to Dortmund. Neither Haller nor Youssoufa Moukoko have been serious alternatives to regular player Niclas Füllkrug this season.
