Still a candidate for F1, the Andretti team recruits Pat Symonds

Pat Symonds, current FIA technical director, joins Andretti Cadillac as executive engineering consultant. The Americans who hoped, from 2026, to be able to land in F1, thus becoming an eleventh team, saw their application rejected by the current teams. And this despite the support of the FIA. They are nevertheless continuing their project by strengthening their organizational chart.

The Andretti team recently made its case to the U.S. Congress, and several senators called on the Justice Department and the Federal Trade Commission to open a formal investigation. At the same time, the Judiciary Committee of the House of Representatives has already launched its own investigation.

Several experiences in stables

Pat Symonds will have led the FIA ​​technical department for seven seasons, participating in the development of the 2022 regulations and the next one which will see the light of day in 2026.

Symonds had a career before the FIA ​​within various teams starting with Toleman, then Benetton, and Renault. He also held the position of technical director at Williams from 2013 to 2017.
