Spanish Judoka Tristani Mosakhlishvili Wins Bronze at World Championships, Secures Spot in Paris Olympics

MADRID, 22 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

This Wednesday, the Spanish judoka Tristani Mosakhlishvili won the bronze medal in the -90 kg category during the World Championships, which are being held in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates), and with this he has qualified for the next Olympic Games from Paris (France).

Exempt from fighting in the round of 32 due to his good ranking, Mosakhlishvili began his career in the round of 32, where he beat Frenchman Maxime-Gaël Ngayap Hambou. Then in the round of 16 he beat the Hungarian Peter Safrany, but lost in the quarterfinals to the Japanese Goki Tajima.

The Japanese advanced further in the tournament – he was ultimately champion – and that put the Spaniard in the repechage for one of the two bronze medals. And there he beat the Lebanese Caramnob Sagaipov, so Mosakhlishvili took the podium alongside the Kyrgyz Erlan Sherov, also bronze, and accompanied the aforementioned Tajima and the Serbian Nemanja Majdov, who won the silver.
