Spain quickly enters the quarterfinals of the 3×3 Women’s Basketball Pre-Olympic

MADRID, 17 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish women’s 3×3 basketball team has secured this Friday its fast-track qualification for the quarterfinals of the Pre-Olympic Tournament, which is being held in Debrecen (Hungary), thanks to its triumphs against Mongolia (21-7) and against Japan (21-12).

The team made up of Vega Gimeno, Sandra Ygueravide, Gracia Alonso and Juana Camilión started 1-4 down in their first match of the day against Mongolia. But Camilión was aggressive and vertical, while Alonso scored near the basket and Ygueravide showed talent to come back in the game and start her career in Group C well.

Then came the turn of the intense and fast Japanese team, which despite everything succumbed to Gimeno’s success. She scored 10 of Spain’s 21 points and assumed the lead at key moments. Furthermore, Egypt’s two defeats in their matches left the Spanish team as the leader of Group C, with a 2-0 record and one match still to play.
