Southampton were promoted to the Premier League after winning 1-0 over Leeds in the final play-off. The Saints moved up the caste following Leicester City and Ipswich Town.

Leeds reached the final after beating Norwich City 4-0 on aggregate in the semifinals. Meanwhile, The Saint eliminated West Bromwich Albion with a 3-1 aggregate to advance to the top match.
In the final match, Southampton was able to open the scoring through Adam Armstrong in the 24th minute. Armstrong was free from the offside trap when he received a pass from Will Smallbone. Ilan Meslier couldn’t stop his low kick.
Southampton was able to maintain a 1-0 lead until the match was over. This victory led Soton to promotion to the Premier League next season.
The team based at St Mary’s Stadium only needed one season to return to the Premier League. Southampton was relegated to the Championship Division because last season they were bottom of the Premier League.
Southampton follows Leicester City and Ipswich Town who have secured promotion tickets first. Leicester moved up the caste after confirming themselves to be champions of the Championship Division.
The Foxes lifted the trophy after collecting 96 points at the top. They are only one point ahead of Ipswich in second place. Even though they failed to win, The Tractor Boys held a promotion ticket thanks to their status as runners-up.
Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton, replaced the relegated Sheffield United, Burnley and Luton Town. These three teams immediately dropped from caste after promotion at the start of this season. Can Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton not just pass by in the Premier League next season?
