CARONNO PERTUSELLA / SARONNO / TRADATE – After the ‘varnish’ of the garlic Internazionali Bnl d’Italia of tennis, the presence in the world of football for Udinese-Empoli and in that of cycling at the start of the 19th stage of Tour of Italy Mortegliano-Sappada, and before the transition to the Tournament of the Regions Baseball Softball in Piedmont and the definitive landing in Friuli Venezia Giulia, the Softball World Cup trophy arrives in Lombardy, prolific cradle of Italian softball, for an intense tour in reality premises and an important institutional visit.
The trophy, the work of the Fratelli Pazzaglia goldsmith company from Pisa for the World Baseball Softball Confederation, is 45 centimeters high and weighs 5.5 kilos and is made of 24-carat gold-plated brass. It is inspired by the official World Cup logo, transformed into a 3D version by the artisans of the Tuscan company, who use a mix of traditional technique and laser technology.
The tour calendar is full of events, several of which will be attended by some athletes from the Italian national team, compatibly with their competitive commitments:

Each club thus has the opportunity to present to athletes, enthusiasts and city authorities the trophy that the 8 best softball teams in the world will compete for from 15 to 20 July in Castions di Strada (Udine).
Among these dates, the visit to the Milan-Cortina Foundationthanks to the hospitality of the CONI president Giovanni Malagòon the afternoon of May 29th, in the splendid Baita at the top of the Allianz Tower in Milan.
The Softball World Cup
For the first time in history the women’s softball world medals will be awarded in Italy. The diamond of Street Castionsin Friuli Venezia Giuliawill welcome the elite of world softball from 15 to 20 July for the final phase of XVII World Cup organized by World Baseball Softball Confederationthe first with the two-phase formula, which began as early as 2023 with the three groups held in Ireland, Spain and Italy.
The eight qualified teams were divided into two groups of four. In the Group A the landladies of Italia Softball they will face Canada, Chinese e United States. In the Group B instead they found space Australia, Japan, Netherlands e Puerto Rico.
Italy will make its debut Monday 15 July at ore 20.30after the opening ceremony, challenging the Chinese. In the group matches the Italians will always play the last match of the daily program at ore 20.30facing United States (Tuesday 16 July) e Canada (Wednesday 17 July).
Once the groups have finished, the teams will be divided into two other groups with the matches to be held Thursday 18 e Friday 19 July: the top two classified will meet the top two of the other group in Super Roundwhile the other four teams will cross paths in the same way to establish the backup positions from fifth to eighth place in the Placement Round.
Saturday 20 July it will then be the day dedicated to the medal challenge. The third and fourth places in the Super Round will compete for the bronze medalwhile the first and second will play the match for theoro.
In the event that bad weather conditions the progress of the tournament, Sunday 21 July was kept free for any recoveries.
