But the Indonesian national team has another golden opportunity, namely to start pursuing their dream of qualifying for the World Cup. Garuda will play the remaining two matches of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers against Iraq and the Philippines on June 6 and 11 2024.

Currently the Indonesian National Team is in second place in Group F with seven points from two wins, one draw and one loss. Indonesia was defeated by Iraq 1-5, held to a draw by the Philippines 1-1, and won 1-0 and 3-0 over Vietnam.
At the top is Iraq with 12 points thanks to its success in sweeping four matches with a win. Vietnam is in third place with three points and the Philippines is in the last position with 1 point.
That means Garuda needs three additional points to secure the runner-up position from Vietnam. Vietnam’s maximum point achievement is 9 points if they can wipe out the remaining two matches against the Philippines (home) and Iraq (away).
Realistically, the Indonesian national team should be able to secure three points by beating the Philippines. Meanwhile, when fighting Iraq, efforts must be made not to lose or at least achieve a draw to maintain your chances.
If they pass the second round, Indonesia will advance to the third round. In the third round, there will be 18 teams divided into three groups, each containing six teams.
The group winner and third round runner-up will get tickets to the 2026 World Cup. Meanwhile, third and fourth place will continue to the fourth round to win the remaining two automatic tickets and one playoff ticket.
