Indonesian National Team coach Shin Tae-yong did not attend the draw for the 2024 AFF Cup or which has now changed its name to the ASEAN Cup.
This draw will be held in Hanoi, Tuesday (21/5/2024), at 14.00, WIB. In the report Bongdaplus quoted TheThao247, Shin Tae-yong did not attend this event so Indonesia was represented by a PSSI delegate.
In contrast, Masatada Ishii (Thailand coach) and Tom Saintfiet (Filipino coach) will represent their teams in the draw later. Likewise, Kim Sang Sik, Vietnam’s new coach is confirmed to be present.
The Indonesian national team entered Pot 2 for the ASEAN CUP draw. In Pot 1 there is Thailand which won two consecutive editions. Then there is also Vietnam, which dominated ASEAN football in the past few years.
Indonesia, which is the 2020 finalist, is accompanied by Malaysia in Pot 2. Then Pot 3 is filled with Singapore and the Philippines, and Pot 4 is filled with Myanmar and Cambodia.
Lastly, Pot 5 is filled by Laos. There will still be one team that will enter Pot 5, namely the winner of the playoff between Brunei Darussalam/Timor Leste.
Looking at this composition, Indonesia will certainly join the group containing Thailand/Vietnam. The ASEAN Cup will be held November 23 – December 21.
