Setback for RB Leipzig? This is apparently what PSG is planning with Xavi Simons

Will loan player Xavi Simons still play for RB Leipzig next season? It probably doesn’t look like it.

Xavi Simons, who was on loan from Paris Saint-Germain to Bundesliga club RB Leipzig in the current season, is currently returning to the French capital after the end of the season. After speculation recently arose that the midfielder could be loaned out to FC Barcelona, the Spanish sports newspaper Sport is now providing new information.

Accordingly, the Parisians have no intention of loaning Simons out again in the summer. It is said that the 21-year-old will either stay at PSG or be sold – but then for no less than 60 million euros.

Simons is still under contract in Paris until 2027. However, he has only played eleven competitive games for the professional team so far. This compares to 42 competitive games for Leipzig this season. In these, the Dutchman scored nine goals and 15 assists. At the Saxons, Simons became a top performer and, according to club officials, they would definitely like to keep him in Leipzig for a longer period of time.

For Simons, Leipzig is already the second loan stop in his young career. In the preseason he played for PSV Eindhoven in his native country. There he shone with a strong 22 goals and twelve assists in 48 competitive games, became top scorer in the Eredivisie and won the Dutch Cup.

According to a rumor, Simons has a clause in his contract that allows him to decide where he goes on loan in a possible loan deal.
