Rui Pinto to face trial for 242 crimes – including hacking and tampering with emails

The investigating judge decided that Rui Pinto will go on trial for 242 crimes out of the 377 that appeared in the indictment, due to the amnesty during Pope Francis’ visit to Portugal being applied to 134 crimes.

Rui Pinto is on trial for 201 crimes of qualified illegitimate access, 23 crimes of aggravated mail violation and 18 crimes of computer damage. In the pronouncement order, the judge in the case also announced the removal of one of the crimes of qualified illegitimate access for which the defendant was being accused, which increased the total number of crimes of this type from 202 to 201, for which he was pronounced.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office charged the hacker with 377 crimes of illegitimate access, tampering with correspondence and aggravated damage. In relation to this process, the creator of Football Leaks is responsible for 377 crimes related to access to emails from Benfica and other clubs, the League of clubs, companies, lawyers, judges, prosecutors, the Tax Authority and the National Internal Security Network.
