Construction work at the Abdi İpekçi Basketball Development Center, where the heart of Turkish basketball will beat, has been completed. The reconstructed center is planned to be opened within 1 month, following fine workmanship and landscaping.
Described as the basketball base of Europe, Abdi İpekçi Basketball Development Center is counting the days to open in its renewed form. The foundation of the demolished old building was laid in 1979 and it was put into service in 1989. The building’s earthquake resistance problems were detected and it was demolished in 2018. The construction of the new building rose shortly after its tender in November 2021. After the last 3 years, the construction of Abdi İpekçi Basketball Development Center with its new face has been completed. Fine workmanship and landscaping remained in the construction.

Viewed from the air, it was seen that the construction of the center was completed and landscaping works were continuing. The barriers on the side of the building facing the street were lowered. The center has a gym with a capacity of 10 thousand people and a training and match hall with a capacity of 1000 people. In addition, there are 3 infrastructure halls where more than 8 thousand competitions will be held annually. We also have a hotel and camp center designed according to the needs of athletes. Care was taken to ensure that it was an architectural structure compatible with public transportation lines, the historical texture of Istanbul and the city walls. The center has a total green area of 22 thousand square meters. The facility, which has a total construction area of 150 thousand square meters and a tender area of 68 thousand square meters, includes a basketball museum, basketball library, prayer room, shopping, concert and food and beverage areas and a parking lot. The center is expected to be a 24-hour sports complex with matches, tournaments, local and international organizations.
