Real Sociedad mathematically gets into Europe by defeating Valencia

Real Sociedad won by the minimum (1-0) against Valencia. The meeting began with vigor and at the end goal disallowed for offside Valencia by Roman Yaremchuk The local reply followed, with a cross from Ander Barrenetxea that Takefusa Kubo was able to heroically save before he came out along the baseline to leave the header on a plate for his teammate André Silva, who beat the Valencian goal with pleasure.

All this happened in the first three minutes of the match, and from then on, the locals dedicated themselves to playing with the score in their favor, without giving up, of course, arrivals with relative danger.

That’s when Valencia wanted to show their chest and make it clear that they were not coming to San Sebastián for a walk. Javi Guerra, with a strong shot from outside the area, was close to scoring for the visiting team, although Beñat Turrientes’ calf deflected the corner kick off Álex Remiro’s left post. Minutes of little football until Turrientes appeared in the 35th minute of play to hunt down a rebound from the edge of the Valencian area with a whiplash, although Giorgi Mamardashvili’s intervention to send the ball to the corner was fantastic.

Quite a peaceful first half for the match referee, César Soto Grado, who did not have to intervene much during the first 45 minutes that, except for the goal, were not very eventful.

Upon returning from the locker room, Valencia took to the green with a totally different face than that seen in the first half, with higher pressure and a more offensive vocation. In fact, that was how he put some fear into the San Sebastian club, although The arrivals, despite being abundant, did not do so with too much clarity. After the first 10 minutes, the Valencian team deflated, and therefore, Real breathed, trying to recover the initial script of the game, maintain control of the ball and try to lull the game to sleep.

But if there is one thing to be clear about despite being a somewhat irregular team, Valencia is that there is always danger, even though they ran into the realistic wall, a Remiro who was able to make a commendable double stop, first against Sergi Canós, and second, the rebound, against Alberto Marí.

The second half was not an ode to football, despite seeing Valencia a little more desperate to try to turn the score around and speed up their European chances, while La Real, with the victory, became a European team for the next season 2024/25.

Almost at the end of the match, Sheraldo Becker tried to surprise Valencia’s Georgian goalkeeper from the edge of the area, although an attentive Mamardashvili repelled the Surinamese’s attempt.

There was no time for more. With this victory, Real Sociedad regains sixth place in LaLiga EA Sports with 57 points, one that grants access to the Europa League. What is certain is that the Txuri Urdin team will compete in at least the Conference League. Valencia, for its part, remains ninth in the table, with no option to compete for a European place.
