Real Madrid prematurely become Spanish champions

Real Madrid secured the Spanish league title for the 36th time on Saturday. The Madrilenians, who are still missing David Alaba with an injury, showed no weakness in the 3-0 home win against relegation candidates Cadiz and subsequently received the necessary support.

Because FC Barcelona lost surprisingly clearly 2:4 away at Girona. Not only did Girona move past the dethroned defending champions into second place, but with a 13-point lead with four games still to play, Real can no longer be pushed out of the top spot.

Brahim Diaz (51′), Jude Bellingham (68′) and Joselu (93′) scored for Real after the break. Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois made his comeback eleven months after tearing his cruciate ligament and meniscus. The Royals gained further self-confidence before the second leg against Bayern Munich in the Champions League semi-finals on Wednesday.
