Raúl Set to Depart Real Madrid with Bundesliga Move on the Cards

According to reports, the former world-class striker has informed Real’s club bosses that he wants to leave the Royal Club this summer. Raúl has been coaching Real’s second team in the third Spanish league since 2019, and his contract expires at the end of June.

According to Sport Bild, the 46-year-old has also said within the club that he wants to play in the Bundesliga. He is known to know the German top division from his playing days at Schalke 04 (2010 to 2012), which apparently wanted to bring him back as a coach in 2022.

At the time, however, Raúl apparently turned down the Royal Blues because he was speculating on the coaching position of Real’s first team.

According to Sport Bild, Raúl has not yet given up on this goal, but will only pursue it more closely at a later date. He knows that Real’s president Florentino Pérez sees Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso as the absolute ideal solution to one day succeed Carlo Ancelotti.
