PSG wins on penalties against Paris FC and qualifies for the D1 Arkema final

The match: 2-2, 5-4 at the tabs

As in the Coupe de France, we had to wait for the penalties this Saturday evening to decide between PSG and Paris FC. And like in March, PSG qualified for the final, the first in the history of D1 Arkema. Jocelyn Prêcheur’s protégés will challenge the winner of the other semi-final between OL and Reims (Sunday, 4:45 p.m.) on May 17.

PSG may regret not having achieved its domination in normal time. In front of Nasser al-Khelaïfi in a sparse Parc des Princes, Sakina Karchaoui’s partners cornered the PFC in front of their surface for a long time. But their lack of precision (23rd, 26th) and success (10th, 30th) left their opponents alive.

PSG had possession 71% of the time. The reigning vice-champions camped in the camp of a united PFC but struggling with the ball.

Above all, they were weighed down by two errors from their goalkeeper, Katarzyna Kiedrzynek (see below). The goalkeeper offered the first goal to Clara Mateo (0-1, 35th), happy to give her team the advantage against the run of play. Stunned, PSG had to wait for the break to get back in the right direction but Grace Geyoro saw her goal logically refused for offside (48th). The use of VAR has also made it possible to use the referees’ sound system for the first time in France.

In the process, the captain insisted and transformed a penalty obtained by Sakina Karchaoui (1-1, 51st). But her goalkeeper made a second mistake, in front of Daphné Corboz (1-2, 57th). Opposite, Chiamaka Nnadozie justified her title as best goalkeeper in D1 Arkema (70th, 71st) but was unable to do anything on Marie-Antoinette Katoto’s point-blank header (2-2, 73rd). Before snatching the penalty shootout at the last second, thanks to a huge double save at point blank range (90th + 8). In vain, given the flawless performance of the PSG players.

The Fact: Kiedrzynek’s Mistakes

The PFC did not create a plethora of chances but was helped by the cataclysmic performance of Katarzyna Kiedrzynek. The Parisian goalkeeper was guilty of two gross errors on the two goals conceded. The opening score came from a much too long control on a pass that was nevertheless simple to negotiate from which Mateo took advantage. The second goal was scored thanks to the soapy hands of the goalkeeper, on a shot which did not seem tricky.
