Whoever wins three games first in the series will play against Bayern Munich and Alba Berlin next year. And the loser stays in Pro A. Why? Because the two winners of the semi-finals have the right to promotion. It doesn’t matter that Karlsruhe didn’t get a BBL license and Hagen didn’t even apply for one. Only one team will be promoted from Pro A. Theoretically, it is possible that Bundesliga relegated Crailsheim can still stay in the league via a “wildcard”, but they would have to pay 700,000 euros to do so.
