The Walking Football project, promoted by the Porto Football Association and the Portuguese Football Federation, continues to be developed in the Porto district. This initiative aims to develop the modality in the district, which was chosen to begin work and, subsequently, analyze the results and impacts of this new modality on the population, with regard to health and well-being.

Another objective is to understand the challenges that arise in large-scale implementation.

The work will take place between the 2nd and 30th of January. There are four pillars that will be developed in this pilot project developed in our district, namely: promoting the sport as a new sporting offer for people who like football and are aged 50 or over; being closer to the community, enabling the creation of new teams; challenge more women; improve the quality of life of practitioners in terms of physical and mental health, social integration and coexistence.

In the auditorium of the Porto Football Association were five municipalities in the district that will be included in the initial phase of this project, namely: Amarante, Marco de Canaveses, Gondomar, Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia. Each will have teams represented by a club, parish council, Private Social Solidarity Institutions, Misericórdias and Senior Universities.
