Poumbad: Argenton-sur-Creuse Hosts Capital of Badminton Over Extended Pentecost Weekend

Taking advantage of the extended Pentecost weekend, Argenton-sur-Creuse has become the capital of badminton with the fourteenth edition of Poumbad which took over the town’s three gymnasiums. Places not always suitable for this practice at first, where it was necessary to install land and temporary lighting upstream.

It must be said that pitches were needed to accommodate the 485 players registered this weekend! Small particularity, it doesn’t matter if you are unclassified or among the best in France, you could participate in this weekend, several tournaments, depending on the level, being offered for each of the categories.

The appointment in 2025 has already been made

On the program, women’s and men’s singles on Saturday, doubles on Sunday and finally, mixed doubles on Monday. A rich program which did not stop there! Indeed, the Poumbad is a real festival since in addition to the tournaments, it is possible to stay on site, but also to enjoy entertainment such as the Sunday evening evening.

With such success for years, the Poumbad is not about to stop! Moreover, posters on site reminded us that the 2025 edition was already planned! This Poumbad 15 will take place on the weekend of June 7 to 9, 2024, once again taking advantage of Pentecost Monday to be able to take place over three days.

Unbeatable bigot in doubles, the Laffontas almost won everything

As for the different competitions, the good thing of the weekend goes to Matthéo Bigot, resident of (CES Tours 37), who leaves with two victories in men’s doubles and mixed doubles. In the men’s doubles, he got rid of a pair notably made up of the unfortunate Nicolas Laffontas who failed there in his second final of the weekend after that in the men’s singles. Moreover, his wife, Chloé Laffontas, also failed in the women’s doubles final. Fortunately, the latter had won the day before in the singles.

On the US Argenton side, note the performance of Clara Raffin, only 17 years old, who won the mixed doubles with Matthéo Bigot!
