On Wednesday evening Atalanta won the Europa League, the second most important European football competition, beating Bayer Leverkusen 3 to 0. It is the first victory of an international trophy in the history of the Bergamo team, as well as the second victory of a trophy ever, after the 1963 Italian Cup. Atalanta also became the first Italian team to win the Europa League since the competition changed its name in 2009: first it was called the UEFA Cup, and the last the team that won it was Parma in 1999. The final was played at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland, where the team celebrated the victory for a long time with around 8 thousand fans who arrived from Italy.
