Phoenix Suns Hire Mike Budenholzer as New Head Coach in Swift Turnaround

It took just 24 hours for the Phoenix Suns to find a new head coach.

Shams Charania de The Athletic said Friday that the organization had agreed to a five-year, $50 million contract with Mike Budenholzer.

On Thursday, the organization announced that it had ended its association with Frank Vogel. From that moment, the name of Budenholzer emerged to succeed him.

Aged 54, he was at the helm of the Milwaukee Bucks from 2020 to 2023. He also managed the Atlanta Hawks.

The Arizona team was eliminated without even winning a game, suffering a sweep at the hands of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Vogel will therefore have spent only eleven months with Phoenix, having been hired in June 2023.

During the regular season, the Suns won 49 for 33 losses, ranking sixth in the West despite having the third highest payroll in the league.
