Patrick Beverley Suspended for Four Games: The Two Incidents that Led to the Decision

Patrick Beverley has been suspended for four games without pay, there are two reasons that led the league to make this decision.

The first is that Beverly, during Game 6 between his Milwaukee Bucks and the Indiana Pacers, has threw a ball several times towards Indiana fans, hitting one of them on the head. In this regard the Indianapolis police have opened an investigation. The cameras, in fact, show Beverly throwing the ball towards the fans for the first time. When the ball came back to him, the Bucks player threw it back into the crowd.

In an episode of “The Pat Bev Podcast”Beverley “explained” her gesture by saying having been called several times with a word I had never heard before. However, the player says his action remains “unacceptable and unforgivable”. “I’ll be better”continues Beverley. “I have to be better and I will be. It should never have happened. Regardless of what he told me, it should never have happened.”

The second reason for the suspension is one “inappropriate interaction” with ESPN’s Malinda Adams. In fact, after that same match, Beverley did not allow the journalist to ask him a question during the usual post-match interviews. It seems the player has it turned away by telling her that she wasn’t subscribed to his podcast.

Following this event, Tim Frank, senior vice president of operational communications of the NBA opted to suspend the player. The statement reads: “Patrick Beverley’s behavior towards EPSN producer Malinda Adams was unprofessional and unacceptable. He has failed to meet the standards that NBA players consistently meet in their interactions with the media.”

For Patrick Beverley this is not the first time. In fact, even in 2021 when he wore the Los Angeles Clippers jersey he was suspended for one game. The reason was a push to Chris Paul as the two returned to their benches.
